Fantastic weekend
You know how some house guests are high maintenance and when the weekend ends you are just sort of exhausted and happy to go back to work? Well, sometimes house guests are awesome and you feel energized and never want the weekend to to because it was so damn relaxing.
Last weekend we had the latter. An old friend of mine (met in 1995) and his wife visited with their 11-year-old daughter. Special aside about the daughter: She was amazing. The perfect blend of maturity that made her trustworthy with your child and childlike that made Henry want to play with her. She was so patient with him. Their both (her at 11 and my son at almost 2) at tricky ages when they could both be brats, but that wasn't the case.
The weekend consisted of pool time, boat rides into the bay, great meals, and great conversation. The weather was perfect. Homemade crab cakes and hush puppies, grilled corn on the cob, fancy beers.
I really couldn't have asked for a better weekend. I didn't even mind that Henry insists on getting up at 6a.m. seven days a week!
It was one of those weekends when you realize the blessing of good friends.
