smacky and bucky

More snow today! Probably just under three inches, but it only stuck to the grass and trees. I telecommute Wednesdays, so I got to take the older kid to preschool and come home and hang out with the little one between emails and stuff. Wednesdays are kind of nice in that way. I get work done, but I still get a chance to see the kids at this unique moment in time, before they go from little kids to boys and the school system and their peers start molding them more than we ever can. Sigh.

Getting really tired of annoyance snow. Give us enough to close everything, or go away and let Spring come. Update: The "flurries" lasted five hours. Luckily it only stuck to the grass and trees and no fear of schools letting out early.

Today is supposed to be the warmest day of the week, before we drop down to arctic temps and snow again (!). Hate spending it at the office while the wife is home with the kids all day. Obviously glad to have a job, and glad the kids are currently well (knock on wood).

Yesterday was one of those rare days when everything was just perfect. Really, I wouldn't have changed a thing. I have to remember days like that, when faced with days of the other kind.

Need a do-over for the hours of 3-7pm, please. Since I don't see that happening, I'll settle for tomorrow being a new day.

I will not jinx it, because we're supposed to get walloped by 8-14 inches of snow tomorrow night, but things are looking up today.

:-) Fingers crossed it continues in this direction!

Now the littlest one has "spots" (says his mommy).

I fear that "crappy" is the new "normal."

Things have to start turning around!

Furnace is fixed. Took three different people, about nine hours of people in our basement, replacement of two parts, and a hair under $1,000. And I had to take two days off from work I really did not enjoy doing.

I'll try to stop whining soon. Promise!

Oy, this week.

First, the toddler isn't sleeping the night (four nights in a row so far).

Older child is really acting out (as they do at age 3).

The relief valve on furnace is leaking. (Bad expansion tank, or just needs air? We'll find out this morning!)

Wife's sister wants us to come see her and her kid this weekend. She's in from Oregon, so we feel obligated, even though we're exhausted (for the reasons above) and need to see if furnace can be fixed today so we're both free this weekend.

Damn, January has been a bitch.

And the wife just texted that the baby just spilled milk inside two bags and she's mad because he did it and now she's late to get to the school early for a conference with the teacher about the older child (which may open a whole can of worms, we'll see.)

Augh.

Sigh.

That is all. 

 The boiler water safety relief valve on the furnace is leaking. Water is dripping from the bottom of that copper pipe onto the floor (into a metal pot now). Emailed the neighborhood HVAC guy last night, but no reply yet.

It appears the hot water heater may be leaking. Shut off water and gas supply and emailed the neighborhood hvac guy, so hopefully it will be solved expediently.

Telecommuting Wednesdays are a tiny spot of sanity in the middle of the week. Amen.

Yet this has NOT gotten me down. Today was a good day. Love my family. I'm very lucky.
