I am in a good mood this morning, which is a little strange since I had an unnerving nightmare in the middle of the night. I guess my subconscious wrestled with some demons while I slept and now I feel lighter. Yay for brains! Always working.

I friended a college roommate on Facebook yesterday. We hadn't seen each other in over a decade. I looked at his page and saw that his last update was "I think the motto on our passports should be changed to United Socialists States of America."

Wow... I don't recall him mentioning politics once in the three years I knew him. I know people grow and change, but this is on par with Dennis Miller becoming conservative in response to 9/11. I usually don't have a problem with differing opinions, but his page reads like a militia member ranting about Obama. At least I generally kept my mouth shut the last eight years about Bush and his Constitution raping party. Oh well. We're three time zones apart anyway. Not like we'll be seeing each other any time soon.

Another weird thing: When I friended him, I wrote a nice note asking how he was doing and everything, and he just confirmed me without a word. I wonder if he looked at my page and decided I was a liberal bed-wetting queer-loving Obama disciple?

I actually took the book to the office kitchen to try to get a decent photo of it with my phone's camera. Not sure I got it. The background is a matte blue and the silver design on top is shiny metallic. It looks really cool when you move it in the light. Pics are just sort of "ehhh..."

Things are sort of returning to normal. I haven't been to a hospital since Monday evening. KNOCK ON WOOD.

Two spring books have arrived from the printer and one of them is freaking awesome looking. I can post a pic if you're interested. Or not. Whatever.

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Maybe I'll finally finish the book I've been slack-ass about reading for the past three weeks.

Or maybe I'll sleep all weekend.

Or not.

Whatever.

My mother was released on Sunday and is home resting.

My wife had her kidney stent removed this morning and is home resting.

I'm celebrating everyone being home and my final day out of the office by having a beer and watching the 4th season of The Office on DVD.

And hey, thanks to everyone for the good thoughts, and for not pointing out that I think I've been writing "stint" instead of "stent" for the last 10 blog posts!

Tomorrow, back to the real office, where it's not as sad as the TV show, but also not as funny.

I got to the hospital in Lynchburg about noon today. Just as I arrived (literally hadn't taken off my coat) the doctor calls us into a room and says my mother had a heart attack about 30 seconds after they gave her the anesthesia for the hip replacement surgery. They put in an emergency stint to clear a blood clot and she's resting now in cardiac ICU.

Holy shit.

Bride's surgery went well and she's relaxing at home now.

Oh, and the movie 30 Days of Night is pretty good. An isolated Alaskan town makes a nice claustrophobic setting. Kind of like the new "fast zombies" craze, these vampires travel in a pack and attack like ravenous dogs.

Oh, "Family Guy" in HD looks FREAKING AWESOME!!!

Remember all the stuff on my to-do list this week (last two posts)? Well now I get to do it in the freaking snow! I like snow and snow days as much as anyone, but c'mon! I have to drive Laura to the hospital for surgery at 11am today, and now I have uncover the car and shovel the sidewalk first, and drive through this crap. What's next? Locusts?
