Juggling act
I find myself feeling more sure that I know what is important in life, and now I'm looking for ways to support those, while still maintaining the "less important but still needs to be addressed" portions.

Monday musing
Why have I not figured out a way to earn a living spending the day playing with Legos with my oldest boy?

Subtle differences
Just putting this here so I won't forget:
The oldest (3.5) has always repeated what his mommy or daddy says to the other, if we are both in the room.
Example: He asks Mommy something, she answers, "Yes, after lunch."
He says to daddy (sitting three feet away): "Daddy, Mommy says 'yes, after lunch.'"
He still does this, but about two months ago, he added "MY" to the sentence.
"Daddy, my mommy says 'yes, after lunch.'"
It's a small but noticeable distinction, most likely from hearing his classmates in preschool all day tell stories that begin "My mommy..." and "My daddy..."
Ownership.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sometimes a few hours at the playground, watching your kids run themselves ragged playing with their friends, is just what the doctor ordered. I feel focused and balanced today.
And they updated my computer and now I can't access my time sheet.
Sigh.
It's Friday. I will survive.
First world problem.

Breathe
Spitting rain when a walk around the block would really feel good.
Oh Alanis, it IS ironic, dontcha think?

BALLS!
Having a timesheet that can be accessed outside the office is a good thing.
Having a timesheet that only works when opened on IE on a PC is annoying as balls (whatever that means).
We of course have Macs at home.
And of course I need to make a change to my timesheet, and tomorrow is my telecommute day.

Everything's the same but everything's different
Getting used to a new computer at work. They swapped hard drives on me and now EVERYTHING looks different. A bit jarring after at least five years on the old machine.
Some days you just want to go home and play with Legos with your kid.
Today is one of those days.

Jane, stop this crazy thing.
The pendulum swings up, the pendulum swings down.
I've got to find a happy medium.

And I melt
My 3-year-old, watching a school bus drive by as we were taking a walk this afternoon: "If we were the same age and rode the bus together, I would like that."
Me: "If we were the same age, I bet we'd be great friends."
Boy: "I think so too!"
Me: "If we were the same age, I bet we'd be great friends."
Boy: "I think so too!"
Ouch.
Last night I slipped in the tub and pulled down the shower curtain trying to catch myself. It felt like it was happening in slow motion and I couldn't stop.
Also, last night I dreamed I was on a plane that was stuck on the tarmac for hours and a man stood up, put on a pair of big headphones playing French music, and hanged himself. It was horrific.
The first day of Daylight Saving Time did not go well.

The end of a hectic day
Me to H: "You're a good kid."
H: "You're a good daddy."
Me: "I love you."
H: "I love you too." (He rolls over, falls asleep)

Last night
The 3-year-old said two things last night after we finished stories: "You're the best daddy I have" and "You make me feel happy."
I melted.
I melted.
