First of all, dig the design of the title. How awesome is that? Here's the opening narration of the show:

The Invaders, alien beings from a dying planet. Their destination: the Earth. Their purpose: to make it their world. David Vincent has seen them. For him, it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a shortcut that he never found. It began with a closed deserted diner, and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey. It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy. Now David Vincent knows that the Invaders are here, that they have taken human form. Somehow he must convince a disbelieving world that the nightmare has already begun.

Premiering in 1967, the show ran for two seasons, a total of 43 episodes. The complete first season was released about a month ago, and Amazon recommended it to me. The show is sort of like The Fugitive, in that it has a single main character who travels from place to place, but while the fugitive, of course, flees, David Vincent pursues. He goes from place to place, following rumors and stories, tracking the aliens. It's a precursor to the X-Files, but as an architect, he has no official capacity to do anything, so he acts in the shadows and has to deal with disbelieving cops and feds. And of course, sometimes the cops and feds are aliens themselves! The acting is very good, the guest stars are occasionally famous for doing other things later, the fight scenes are surprisingly good (and long), and the special effects, for television in the 1960s, are very good too.

On the DVDs, Roy Thinnes (main character) discusses each episode with newly recorded intros. The actor has a nice sci-fi looking website here.

Recommended for fans of the "paranoia" type of sci-fi (shades of the "red" scare and all that).
